Who are we?
Purpose Statement: To raise awareness and knowledge about MSF’s work in the field and global health crises by fundraising MSF’s work, encouraging students to get involved in their community, and advocate for medical humanitarian issues via educational campaigns and informational resource creation.
The Friends of MSF Chapter at Northeastern is an affiliate student organization for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) aiming to raise awareness about MSF’s medical humanitarian impact and serve as an educational resource of students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. One of our major goals is to increase student involvement in our local community’s health via speaker events, fundraisers, and advocacy campaigns. We will accomplish our goals by actively fundraising for MSF, engaging in volunteer efforts at NEU and within the local community, hosting prominent guest speakers in various fields, and more. We hope to help students of any major find a path by which they may aid in humanitarian efforts around the world.

Our Goals
Inform the Public
Many of our world’s current humanitarian crises go under-reported, often leaving those affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare unable to receive the medical assistance they need. It’s our job to report about them.
Fundraise
Through donations and fundraising, we aim to aid MSF in continuing to provide impartial medical assistance. We also aim to use these fundraisers to increase public awareness of aforementioned issues.
Invoke Urgency & Involvement
Oftentimes, global health issues feel too large and overwhelming for us to conquer on our own. We want students to not only get involved in NGOs such as MSF post-graduation, but in our local community so that they can see local health issues firsthand and learn what they can do to help.
